![]() This device is defined by its name - Browner. It allows you to brown out the line voltage to your amp. Many vintage amps from the 40's through the early 60's were designed to run on lower line voltage than amps in later years. So, it is a good idea to keep that line voltage low when using those amps to protect the transformers, filter capacitors, and other components. The Browner is also good for reducing the line voltage when developing an amp to look for thresholds of oscillations and other problems. The range of adjustment for the line voltage is approximately 15%. For instance, if you have 125V from your wall outlet, you can dial it down to approximately 105V. The Browner will handle up to a 5 amp load and is fused. The voltage is changed in 12 steps on a rotary switch. |
